When’s the best time to tune in? They asked…
On the Edge FM veranda, looking towards Biamanga with its humpback ridge line under sunny blue skies, I’m thinking about a question from a radio listener this week: When’s the best time to listen to Edge FM?
We have a rich variety of live presenters, with varying interests in music and culture, who are living right here in the Bega Valley… so I’ve listed them here for your perusal.
On Mondays from 9am we welcome you to the week with alt and retro country music on Good Morning Bega, and then at 12noon our Valerie reads her favourite poems. From 3pm Dana will take you on a journey to heighten your vibration, then from 5pm Michell Scott dives into the First Nations music scene. After 6pm we alternate between Caterina’s Cornucopia and Jen’s cocktail hour for something off menu.
Tuesday mornings at 9am we have a new show: The Living Valley – birds, weeds, bush regeneration, helpful plants and people in the valley. Then at 10.30 The Mixtape presents great tunes from soul, funk and jazz to gospel. At 12 noon Monika presents her show about living with Autism. And every second Tuesday evening Pete Veliks presents his popular “Ocean of Sound” from 6 to 8pm
On Wednesdays Frank presents Humpday from 9 to 12 playing music from the 50s to the 2000s, and at 2pm our women’s show is presented by Grace playing music by women and often chatting to local women doing great things in the community. Andrew’s Music Park kicks off from 4, and then at 5pm Frank is back with Hidden Gems music fossicking until 7pm, when Chris take over with Music for the end of the World.
On Thursdays long time presenter Lindsay presents his always live show Live with Lindsay, followed by Fran’s fine Purple Duck at 3 for 2 hours. Matt Horsfall takes over the mic with his eclectic Shifting Sands from 5.30 and then we have our Christian Life Program from 7 to 9pm
Friday starts with popular interview and history program Sapphire Stories from 9am, then after lunch you can chill with Eddie and his excellent music on the Sound Lounge 1.30 to 4.30.
Saturday mornings is all about country, our mainstay fare… then at 12 Jenny Penno presents Inner Neon Catering Van – Luncheon set which is simply beyond variety… and then the long running show Sports Free Zone, presented by you guessed, it Frank!
Sunday from 2.30pm Ian Campbell hits the decks, joined by Spin Doctor to replay a classic album on vinyl in new show The Crackle.
So the short answer to the question, when should I tune in to Edge FM might be: anytime!
