PRESIDENT’S REPORT

The station has been humming along well over the past few months. Membership was due in June and for those of you who haven’t paid, I have enclosed a membership form. Membership is not just about the money, [although it helps] it is more about showing the Australian Communication & Media Authority that we have support from the community, so if you haven’t paid yet, please do, we need your support. The prize for paying your membership on time, a $30 supermarket gift card, was won by John Cafe.

We have just received a grant of $2911.70 from the Community Broadcasting Foundation for a new satellite dish, computer monitor and two new cassette/CD recorders.

The new web site is almost complete and should be up and running in the next month. This is a “state of the art” site and should greatly enhance the station and information available.

Several new presenters have joined up. Paige Backhouse is helping Boo on Saturday mornings and Andrew Ogilvie is presenting “the way we were” on Sunday afternoons from 1.30 to 5pm. Two old presenters have returned, Debbie on Monday nights, 6 to 8pm, with “country corners” and Lindsay is back with “live with Lindsay” 12.30 to 3.30 Thursday afternoons.

On Saturday 7th September we will be holding our biennial fundraiser. This year the Radiothon will also feature a car boot sale and mini market. If you would like a stall ring Karen on  0408 429 402 to book. Cost is $15.00. The car boot sale and mini market will run from 8am to 1pm and the Radiothon will run all day from 8am to 6pm. The other user groups from the Old Bega Hospital will also be participating, there will be pottery demonstrations and sales, the knitters and weavers will have a stall and the lead light classes will be demonstrating their hobby. The Ulysses motor bike club will be showing some of their bikes and the Friends of the Old Bega Hospital will be running the Market Cafe. We will be offering half price membership on the day, as well as raffles, giveaways and live music in the studio. There are many wonderful items that have been donated by the generous business houses of Bega for the on air auction. I have included a list on the reverse so you can consider what you may like to bid on. See you there.

Station sounding good,

Don.
