Welcome Home Dane!

On Saturday 30th September at the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club, you are invited to welcome home local hero Dane Waites, after his epic 4,000 km run from Perth to Pambula.  This fun-filled family event will be held between 12.00 pm and 3.30 pm, and local musos, The Figmentz and Gary Carson Jones will be there to entertain.  For more information about Dane’s homecoming click on the link below:- See more about Dane’s homecoming

Returning to the Bega Valley from the south over the weekend, Edge FM presenter Andrew Ogilvie (pictured above with Dane) was chuffed to have been able to “catch up” with Dane as he approached Orbost.  Dane has been running from Perth to Pambula to raise awareness for Autism and Mental Health.  Andrew Ogilvie summed up what we were all thinking by saying, “He (Dane) and his support team are achieving what many would think is the impossible”.

Congratulations Dane Waites on your incredible effort in reaching your goal.  We at 93.7 Edge FM salute you! Tune into “The Way We Were” with Andrew Ogilvie every Tuesday from 11.00 am – 2.30 pm on on 93.7 Edge FM, your community radio station in the Bega Valley.

CRN’s HomeBrew program re-lanches as Aussie Music Weekly

Focussing on new local and independent Australian music, CRN’s HomeBrew progam has been re-launched as Aussie Music Weekly.

We spoke to the show’s presenter Jason ‘Noddy’ Velleley to ask what’s in store with this new incarnation of the program, and about the decision to change the show’s name and alter the format. for more of the interview plese follow the link: more from Aussie Music Weekly

Will & Tom’s Love/Hate Relationship

Will & Tom are new presenters on 93.7 Edge FM and air their show on Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

They play 25-30 minutes of music they like, followed by 25-30 minutes of music they don’t like. This will not be used as an excuse to unnecessarily belittle people’s taste in music. Rather, they wish to use it as a mildly opinionated opportunity to be able to play a wide selection of music that they are passionate about.

Of course, all care will be taken to mitigate any possible sense of erraticism that may arise as a symptom of eclectic musical choices. The hour will end with a (preferably local) Australian song, as an opportunity for community engagement and representation.

Phone in and give them your thoughts!!!

CBAA launches campagn in response to cuts in Federal Budget!!!

2016 Budget CBAA loss

The Federal Budget has failed to maintain funding for metropolitan community digital radio services in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. The CBAA has launched a campaign to show just how much support there is for our sector and how important it is to secure our digital future.

We really need your help! Will you get involved?

The Federal Budget contains cuts of $1.4 million p.a., funding that currently keeps community radio stations broadcasting on digital in 5 capital cities. Community radio’s standing alongside public and commercial broadcasters is at risk.

It’s not a lot of money in the scheme of things but this decision to exclude community broadcasters from digital radio puts our sector’s future at risk.

Because we’re about to go to an election, we think both the Government and Labor will be paying more attention than usual and we plan to be very loud in those key seats that both sides are battling hard for. These seats are won and lost by just a few hundred votes, so every voice counts.

Will you join our campaign to Keep the Community in Your Radio by signing this petition so we can show the Prime Minister these cuts don’t have community support?

Without this funding community radio will get kicked off digital but we refuse to be left in the last century.

Please, sign here and make sure your friends know about it so they can sign it too.

In the midst of a very close election campaign I believe we can turn this funding shortfall around, but the only thing that will make a difference is you, and everyone who cares about the future of community radio.

Keep the Community in Your Radio by adding your voice.
