A great time had by all at the 93.7 Edge FM Radiothon Fundraiser

We have had a fantastic day today out at the Old Bega Hospital, just south of Bega.  There was so much happening;  I’m not sure where to start!  There was a mini-market where stallholders sold all sorts of treasure – books, plants, produce, seeds, jewellery, clothing, and bric-a-brac.  The Old Bega Hospital Trust ran the Market Cafe and the potters, weavers and lead light groups opened their rooms to display their wonderful works of art.  At 11 o’clock a Camellia was planted in memory of Barbara Waddell, founder of the Bega Valley Weavers.

93.7 Edge FM volunteers took turns presenting on air from 8 am until 7 pm, auctioning off several wonderful items donated by local businesses, and  playing their favourite tunes in between.  Raffles were run and the  rissoles and sausages on the barbeque were a big hit with the hungry visitors.  Passers-by were impressed with the motorbike display by the Ulysses Club.

Talented musicians joined in the fun, playing live on air during the day.  Gorgeous singer-songwriter Sarah Campbell led the way, followed by funny-man Damon Davies (who can play the trumpet and harmonica without a trumpet or a harmonica!).  Garry Carson Jones and Ricky Bloomfield entertained us with Johnny Cash songs and Chris O’Donnell has obviously inherited his talent from dad Peter and Uncles Andy and Pat  (The O’Donnell Brothers).  Chris was joined by talented guitarist Brad Eastman with some lovely harmonies, and to finish the day in a musical way, Edge FM’s very own Phil Moriarty was joined by Damon Davies on double bass and Martin added an ethereal air with his alto sax.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who was involved in today’s fundraiser.  A great time was had by all!!  Check out the “Life at Edge” website photo gallery for more snapshots from today.
